During the summer and fall of 2014, the OBP crew had the pleasure of constructing a 1.2 mile trail located deep within the White Mountain National Forest. The new trail, aptly dubbed "Irene's Path" has replaced the Flume Trail that was wiped out in 2011 by Hurricane Irene.  The trail travels along a ridge line and through numerous boulder fields with a wonderful vista of the Mad River Notch looking toward the Kancamagus Highway.  The remote location of the site, technical nature of construction methods, and the steepness of the terrain made this project an ideal fit for OBP.

Irene's Path was a successful collaboration between USFS specialists who analyzed the terrain and designed the alignment, the Waterville Valley Athletic and Improvement Association who offered guidance and volunteer support, the National Forest Foundation who provided the vast majority of the funding, and the OBP crew who did the actual construction.
